According to Tesla, the Giga Train officially launched on August 7. This train runs between Berlin and Brandenburg. Both Tesla employees and the general public can travel on this train for free. Able to carry 500 passengers each time, the battery-powered electric train will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 50 tonnes per week.
Tesla believes that Siemens' Mirio B battery-electric technology-based Giga Train will become popular as an alternative to diesel-based trains. As a result, the company hopes that it will be possible to launch electric trains in other German cities in the future.
