According to a report titled 'Mobile Device Best Practices' by the National Security Agency, hackers are also using spearphishing attacks to install malware on smartphones. In this type of attack, malicious apps or malware can enter the smartphone without any click.
Keeping the smartphone off for some time at least once a week makes it difficult for hackers to carry out such attacks. However, the organization has warned that this method cannot always play an effective role in preventing cyber attacks. Therefore, they advised users to be careful about several things to prevent cyber attacks on smartphones. Let's take a look at the suggestions.
* All the apps on the smartphone should be updated regularly. Apart from this, the latest security patches of the operating system must be used.
*Apps must be downloaded from Google Play or Apple's App Store as well as the official App Store.
* Avoid clicking on any links sent by known or unknown people online. Even clicking on links in text messages or files should be avoided.
* Be careful when using public Wi-Fi networks. Public Wi-Fi networks should be used via VPN if necessary.
* Bluetooth connection should be disabled when necessary.
* A secure passcode or PIN must be used on the smartphone. A strong passcode of at least six digits must be used to lock and unlock the phone.
* It should be ensured that the smartphone cannot be used by others through biometric or fingerprint.
* Avoid charging smartphone through charging port of unknown person or organization.
* The location facility of the smartphone should always be turned off if not required.
